The Kiwanis Club of Germantown has awarded Rebecca Spain its annual Teacher of the Year award. A teacher since 1997, Spain currently teaches fifth-grade at Forest Hill Elementary School.

“Earlier, while teaching at Farmington Elementary School, she took on the extra duty as the K-Kids advisor and did an excellent job supporting local needs with her K-Kids,” wrote Don Eye, Kiwanis K-Kids/Terrific Kids Advisor for the Kiwanis Club of Germantown, in a press release. “When she began teaching at Forest Hill, she started another K-Kids club and it has flourished.”

K-Kids is the largest service organization for elementary school students, with more than 1,200 clubs globally. Club members discover their passion to serve, their desire to lead and their abilities to collaborate with others to better the school and community.

Spain’s accomplishments also impressed the Louisiana-Mississippi-Tennessee Kiwanis District selection committee, who consequently awarded her the 2021-2022 District Teacher of the Year award.

The City congratulates Spain on her commitment to building a better future for our students.
