Home sales soar in June


Home sales were up nearly 19 percent in Germantown during June.

According to the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, 109 houses were sold last month.

The median sales price was also up nearly 10 percent at $293,000, the second highest in the county. Three new homes were sold for a whopping median price of $579,000.

With 407 sales reported through June, year-to-date sales are up 3 percent compared to last year.

After a slow start to the year (sales were down 37 percent in January), home sales have been up the last three months.

“June was a really good month,” said MAAR President Joe Steffner. “And for the year we are well ahead of the 2015 pace.”

Overall home sales in Collierville were down nearly 10 percent last month, with new home sales up 20 percent.

According to the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, 130 sales were recorded in June, down from 144 a year ago.

At $308,900, the town’s median sales price remained the highest in the county. The median price for new homes was $472,572.

To date, sales are down 6 percent compared to 2015. However, with 56 new homes sold through June, new sales are up 19 percent on the year. Sales have been down five of six months in 2016. April was the lone month that sales climbed.
