Never Forget

Veterans, their families, city leaders, active military personnel and other citizens gathered for the annual ceremony at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill-Irene Road Monday to mark Memorial Day.

Master Sergeant Randy “Mac” McKee, left, was among the guest speakers.

McKee recently retired from the U.S. Army with 30 years of Honorable service.

Twenty-six of those years were in Special Forces. McKee has served six combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan since Sept. 11, 2001.

The McKee family has a long history of military service.

His great- grandfather served in WWI, in the Battle of Belleau Woods. A great-uncle landed on the beaches of Normandy and died while serving in France in WWII.
