Collection of trash cans has begun

The collection of old trash carts in Germantown began Tuesday and city officials couldn’t be happier.

Members of the Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen spent several minutes Monday during their regularly scheduled meeting listening to City Administrator Patrick Lawton address the growing list of waste removal problems residents are experiencing.

Several residents complained that their yard debris hasn’t been picked up in over a week.

The city has been plagued by problems with current provider Inland Waste Services, enough so that city officials have worked to move on from Inland a month before their contract ends because of poor service.

Inland Waste reportedly stopped picking up yard debris in some areas of the city weeks ago.

The city will officially switch to Waste Pro of Tennessee on June 1.

When Inland empties the current cans, new provider Waste Pro will be able to pick-up the old cans.

This process will follow every day through June 1. After resident’s trash is collected by Inland, they should leave the carts at the curb so Waste Pro can take them away.
