Germantown Middle wins state award for video showcasing careers in manufacturing profession


The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently congratulated Germantown Middle School on its award-winning “Dream It. Do It. Tennessee” manufacturing video, showcasing careers in advanced manufacturing and providing awareness about the opportunities these careers provide.
The “Dream It. Do It. Tennessee” video contest encouraged students from Memphis and Shelby County middle schools to create a video focused on “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” in hopes that this would provide awareness about manufacturing careers and motivate students to consider a future career in this field. Students partnered with local manufacturing companies to help depict the various career opportunities.
The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the voice of Tennessee’s business community, was honored to sponsor the “Dream It. Do It. Tennessee” video contest.
Germantown Middle School received the most votes for its video out of 16 participating schools. During the three days of voting, the schools collectively received over 113,000 votes on their videos. Other participating middle schools included Arlington, Bon Lin, Cordova and Houston middle schools.
