After overcoming a halftime deficit to force overtime, the Germantown Red Devils fell to Southwind 62-60 on Saturday in the championship round of the District 15-AAA tournament. Senior guard Darrell Brown led Germantown with 21 points but struggled much of the game. Southwind hit a last minute three-pointer to take the lead in overtime. Brown missed a shot in the final seconds. Senior forward Jacob Ivey collected the rebound for the Devils but completed the put back after the clock expired. Germantown will now host Whitehaven this Saturday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Region 8AAA tournament. Should they advance to the second round, the Devils will play either No. 1 seeded Memphis East or No. 4 seeded Ridgeway on March 1 at Hamilton High School. Germantown beat East 71-70 on Feb. 13 and won 79-69 against Ridgeway in December. ABOVE: Germantown’s Kevin Cheatham has his shot blocked by Southwind’s Eric Turner.
