Germantown firefighters respond to house fire on New Meadow Drive

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Dec. 3, Germantown Fire Fighters responded to a call at 2167 New Meadow Drive off Allenby Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy fire in the garage and attic, as well as high heat in the house.
Homeowners reported that the fire started in the carport and was spreading into the attic by the time they saw it. Fortunately, responding fire fighters were able to quickly stop the blaze in the attic, keeping it from extending far into the living spaces. No surrounding properties were in jeopardy and the damage was kept to the building of origin and the homeowner’s vehicle.
Crews from Germantown were supported on the scene by crews from Collierville and Shelby County. Bartlett Fire Fighters and an additional crew from Collierville were on standby to provide fire protection for the rest of the City.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Preliminarily loss is estimated at approximately $200,000.
