Houston bests Collierville again


The Houston Mustangs won a triple overtime thriller 77-75 Friday night on the road against district rival Collierville. The Dragons jumped out to a 23-21 lead in the first quarter. However, the Mustangs charged back in the second quarter to take a 39-38 lead into the half. Houston was paced by Marlon Hunter’s 27 points. Both teams traded baskets to open the second half until the Dragons used an 8-7 run in the final minutes of the game to force the first overtime. After exchanging baskets in the first two extra periods, Houston used a 7-5 run to eventually put Collierville away. The Mustangs are now 14-8 on the season and scheduled to host Germantown on Friday. The Red Devils beat Houston 49-47 last month. PICTURED: Justin Benton hangs in the air while making a floater.
