City mourns loss of two teenagers

Chris Hess' jersey and a game ball signed by all of the Germantown Rugby playersArea residents continue to mourn the loss of two 16-year-old Germantown High School students who died last week in separate accidents over a span of less than two days. Chris Hess, a straight-A student and proud rugby player at GHS, died around 3 p.m. on March 27 from injuries he sustained when the vehicle he was operating struck a tree on S. Germantown Road. Just after 10 p.m. the next day, Himyar Hassan, a junior at GHS from Yemin who also has a younger brother at the school, was found dead in his home on Tulip Rose after accidentally shooting himself in the upper chest. The preliminary investigation states that Hassan was handling a loaded .45-caliber handgun when it discharged.
